Position: Chief of the Neskonlith Band
Biography: Chief Judy Wilson is the elected chief of the Neskonlith Band, one of 17 communities of the Secwépemc Nation of interior BC. Chief Wilson is a passionate advocate for the rights of First Nations communities to have access to safe drinking water through technologies and practices that have been tailored to a community’s needs. Her priorities also include protection of head waters and waterways throughout territorial lands that have not been ceded, surrendered, or sold to anyone. This reflects the Secwépemc Peoples’ inherent collective responsibilities as caretakers to lands, water, and all creation that inhabit the lands. Protection of water is essential to life itself.
