Sion Shyng

Position: Dairy and Food Safety Specialist, BC Centre for Disease Control

Biography: Sion is a Dairy and Food Safety Specialist at the BCCDC, Environmental Health Services team. He joined the team back in 2003 after having worked in the food processing industry for 13 years. He is busy wearing many “hairnets” in his position including: licensing and inspecting provincially licensed dairy processing plants, reviewing corporate food safety plans, collaborating on the food safety training courses (FOODSAFE, MarketSafe, ProcessSafe, A BC HACCP), working with EHOs on food safety consultations, and responding to food emergencies.

Sion is just as busy outside of work. He has 2 teen-aged kids that are heavily involved with school and sports. When there is some free time, he can be found tackling his long list of home renovation projects.
