Position: PhD Candidate, Department of Population Medicine, University of Guelph
Biography: Stephanie L. Hughes (M.Sc., MPH) is norovirus and communicable disease surveillance specialist based out of Toronto, Ontario. She holds degrees in microbiology, biochemistry, and public health, and is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Guelph in the Department of Population Medicine researching surveillance of norovirus in Ontario. Her previous experience includes working with the Public Health Agency of Canada on antimicrobial usage in Canada and the World Health Organization on international foodborne outbreak mitigation. From her Ph.D., she intends to both reduce the economic burden and case counts of future norovirus outbreaks in Ontario.
